Firewood!

A short little video showing where my firewood comes from. I made the biggest haul that I've ever made from this single house. Usually 2 truckloads at the most.

Cheers!

Hey Brandon.. I'm at the very beginning stages of building a kiln, and I've talked to Scott Cooper about his kilns. I'm leaning towards wood fire, not only because I like the results, but because it seems like wood is more readily available in central Iowa. Do you mostly use wood like what you find at construction sites, or do you ever use just cut firewood... or does it matter? Does the rough cut building lumber burn faster/hotter? Thanks! :)

I have to say Brandon, while I like the results of our longer firings. You're making some really nice pots, and spending an afternoon or two gathering wood. I'm a little jealous sometimes.

Becky- I only use construction waste. You should look into Jack Troy's book on woodfiring...very informative. the type of wood, thickness, length, etc all make a difference in the firing. different kilns are desined to burn different types of wood. If you send me an email I'd be happy to discuss it with you further.

Joe- Thanks. I really like your kiln though...
